FARO Technologies Achieves Favorable Patent Infringement Settlement

LAKE MARY, Fla., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- FARO Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: FARO), today announced that it has settled its dispute with Kosaka Laboratory, Ltd. concerning a patent owned by Kosaka (U.S. Patent No. 4,430,796), entitled Method and Apparatus For Determining the Location of Points on a Three Dimensional Thing.

Kosaka, located in Tokyo, Japan, had accused FARO of patent infringement, and thereafter in April 1998 FARO commenced a declaratory judgement action against Kosaka in the Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida, seeking to have the court declare that it did not infringe the patent. As a result of the settlement, Kosaka agreed that FARO did not infringe the asserted claims of the patent.
