FARO Releases New Version of Inspection Software

LAKE MARY, Fla., Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Leader in CAM2 (Computer-Aided Manufacturing Measurement), FARO Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: FARO) announces the release of its market-leading inspection software: CAM2(TM) Measure 3.7. The latest version offers a quicker, easier-to-use, more powerful version of CAM2 Measure, which is a CAD-based measurement and analysis software program developed for use with articulating portable measurement arms, CMMs and other 3D measurement instruments. CAM2 Measure can be used for simple go/no-go measurements or CAD-to-part comparison.

Software Product Manager Ken Steffey said, "We expect the improved functionality, especially in GD&T, to be a big hit with customers."

Quality Control Engineers who previewed the new software at American Racing Equipment Inc. in Rancho Dominguez, Ca., said, "We at American Racing Custom Wheels have been able to reduce our mold inspection by at least twenty percent using the new version of CAM2 Measure Software."

FARO intends to upgrade more than 1,000 CAM2 Measure users by the end of November with the 3.7 release. In addition, FARO expects to upgrade up to 3,000 seats of its CAM2 software in the coming months.

    It's Faster:
    * Auto Nominal Association.  A new time-saving function in which the
      software assigns the nearest nominal feature and displays the results
      after an alignment.

    It's Easier:
    * Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.  (ASME y14.5M and ISO 1101) New
      GD&T menu that allows measurement and reporting of these features
      without understanding the complexity of the GD&T specification.
    * Nominal Alignments.  The software will automatically calculate the
      rotation and translations necessary to align to a CAD model.

    It's More Powerful:
    * XML-based Graphical Reports.  Improved reporting will allow you to send
      your report to management, suppliers or clients to be viewed and printed
      from a web browser.
    * Updated Review Features.  Multi-select features, you can now select
      several features at a time and apply tolerance or nominal changes all at
      once.
