FARO Technologies Receives ISO 9001 Certification

LAKE MARY, Fla., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- FARO Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: FARO), global provider of CAD (Computer Aided Design)-based quality assurance solutions, announced today that the company's quality management system has received ISO 9001 certification from Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI), a leading international ISO auditor based in Jamestown, N.Y.

ISO 9001, the most comprehensive of three ISO 9000 quality certification programs, sets out the requirements for an organization whose business processes range all the way from design and development to production, installation and servicing. It often results in many benefits to registered companies such as increased operational efficiency and productivity, reduced scrap/rework expenses, competitive advantage, higher perceived quality and improved customer demand.

"FARO's focus on quality gives us a competitive advantage, especially in Europe where customers attach greater value to ISO 9000 certification " stated Simon Raab, President and Chief Executive Officer at FARO. "We expect to experience less technology review from major customers now that we have the ISO 9001 certification attached to our company processes. Of the 10 comparable companies in our public company sector, only two others have ISO 9000 certification," continued Raab.

In becoming ISO 9001 certified, FARO joins an elite group of companies who have achieved world class quality within their organization by meeting the requirements of ISO 9001. According to Quality Systems Update, a monthly ISO 9000 newsletter published by The McGraw-Hill Companies, 19,746 US-based manufacturers are certified to one of the ISO 9000 standards with only 7,804 certified to ISO 9001.

FARO Technologies, Inc. and its international subsidiaries are pioneers in CAD-based quality assurance products. These products play a key role in the worldwide trend toward CAD-based total quality management for shortened production cycles and the reduction in scrap and rework. FARO's product line includes portable measurement equipment, a broad line of CAD-based inspection software, and enterprise level statistical process control (SPC) software for portable and fixed-base coordinate measurement machines.
