FARO Names Stephen C. Garwood as SVP and Managing Director Asia Pacific

LAKE MARY, Fla., Jan 17, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- FARO Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: FARO), the world leader in portable computer-aided measurement hardware and software, announced it has appointed Stephen C. Garwood as its Senior Vice President and Managing Director Asia Pacific. Garwood replaces Robert Large who is retiring at the end of February.

Most recently, Garwood served as EVP of Operations for two global divisions of Danaher Corporation. In his role, he was responsible for developing an operating team to drive continuous improvement and intensifying customer focus, as the need to change and strengthen the businesses was imperative. Through his leadership, the divisions achieved their targets for on-time delivery, minimal product defects and revenue growth.

Garwood graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, and from Illinois State University with an M.B.A. Early in his career, he held numerous engineering roles with Whiting Corporation and later with Interlake Companies. At Interlake, he also held positions in manufacturing and materials, ultimately rising to Manufacturing Manager. Garwood was recruited to NACCO as a Focused Factory Manager and later to Danaher Corporation where he held progressively more responsible global positions to include his most recent assignment. He also served two years in the United States Air Force.

"Steve has a proven track record of success with global organizations including substantial responsibility for Asian operations," FARO President and CEO Jay Freeland said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to FARO and will play an integral role in our continuous improvement processes. His expertise in strategic management and lean manufacturing for multinational Fortune 500 corporations will be an invaluable asset. As we transition our leadership in Asia, I'd also like to thank Bob Large for his passion, his endless energy and his contributions to the Company -- all of which are significant components of what makes FARO such a dynamic and successful enterprise."
