FARO Launches Dynamic 3D Gage Powered by Softcheck Tools(TM)

LAKE MARY, Fla., Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- FARO Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: FARO) launched its new dynamic 3D gage for process control at IMTS 2000. As simple as a go/no-go gage and as powerful as a CMM, FARO's new Control Station(TM) as delivered, is ready-to-measure parts or assemblies right out of the box.

Powered by Softcheck Tools, the Control Station is a quick, accurate and user-friendly system for cost-effective, in-process measurement. No other manufacturing measurement system is as easy to use as Control Station. Operators require no training as they are visually guided on a touch-screen display. By simply following a green dot, the operators are guided to all required measurement points on their part, enabling anyone to use the system anywhere. Measured data is then compared to original part specifications and displayed through tabular, graphical and SPC reports.

Each Softcheck Tool is built from the manufacturers' part data and is easily modified to accommodate design changes. For the fastest turnaround of design changes, new or revised part data can be submitted online. The FARO Design Team builds a new Softcheck Tool according to the submitted data and updates the Control Station via the Internet, e-mail or overnight courier.

Simon Raab, FARO's President and CEO said, "Early market test installations of the new Control Station with Softcheck Tools have been almost unanimous in their acclaim of this new class of quality tool. We are pleased by this and we are diverting important resources into what we hope will become a milestone in the world of manufacturing quality control."
