"The result of this development is the unprecedented integration of design, engineering and manufacturing in respect of product quality control," said Ken Steffey, Software Product Manager for FARO.

From prototyping to production, users will be able to maintain process control by using FARO Control Station(TM) measurement systems and CAM2 software in the Unigraphics environment. FARO(R) customers will benefit overall by not having to translate their files between Unigraphics and CAM2 Measure. Specific benefits to design and manufacturing engineers are:

* Design changes can be captured in the Unigraphics model during prototyping

* First-article verification can occur directly in the Unigraphics model

* Process control can be maintained with the FARO Control Station measurement system and CAM2 Measure software

* Reverse engineering and/or prototyping data gathered from the FARO Control Station measurement system will be able to generate Unigraphics geometry

Simon Raab, President & CEO of FARO said, "We believe there are opportunities for many installations of Unigraphics on the manufacturing floor with the addition of CAM2 Measure metrology functionality." FARO is making efforts to work with other CAD suppliers for a measurement interface.

Ted McFadden, VP of Development for Manufacturing Planning Solutions at EDS PLM said, "EDS is pleased to support innovative developments, such as the CAM2 and Unigraphics integration, that can provide benefit to our customers in product manufacturing and quality control."
