FARO Announces Graphical Reporting With SPC Capability
for Instant Control of Process and Part Variation
LAKE MARY, Fla., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- FARO Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: FARO), today announced the immediate availability of AnthroCAM(R) SPC Graph 2.0, FARO's CAD-based graphical reporting software. Originally developed and sold under the name AnthroGraph(R) this latest version includes statistical process control (SPC) data such as average, run and range charts, as well as CP and CPK values (CP is a Simple Process Capability Index while CPK is an Overall Process Capability Index). Such data enables manufacturers to use measured data to control process and part variation.
SPC Graph is bundled with existing AnthroCAM Measure 3.11 and AnthroCAM Design 2.51, the Company's CAD-based measurement, reverse engineering and analysis software packages. AnthroCAM SPC Graph offers immediate feedback on an individual part level versus the Company's AnthroCAM SPC Process which is a plant-wide process control software program.
"SPC data analysis is a critical component in the quality assurance and manufacturing process," stated Matthew Ward, AnthroCAM product manager. "FARO's new SPC Graph 2.0 allows quality and manufacturing managers to obtain instant graphical results for measured parts and assemblies. Powerful publishing features produce graphical reports that provide immediate feedback for controlling manufacturing processes, saving both time and money."
In addition to providing basic SPC data, AnthroCAM SPC Graph interfaces with all standard database programs, which allows measured data to be easily exported to more sophisticated or customized SPC programs.
"Prior to our graphical reporting software, reports of measured parts or assemblies were simply numbers and text," explained Dan Perreault, director of installations and applications at FARO. "Now, manufacturers can see a text box with a feature's measurement results pointing to the feature on the CAD drawing. That makes it easy to show and report the measurement results gathered on the shop floor or in the inspection room, which allows customers to fix any problems immediately," he continued.
While FARO's portable measurement arms, known as the FaroArm, are most often used for data collection, the AnthroCAM product line works with other measurement devices including conventional CMMs, laser trackers and photogrammetry systems.
Like all members of the AnthroCAM software line, SPC Graph features a 100% Windows(R) compliant interface with tabbed windows, drop-down boxes and user-friendly toolbars and menus. Users navigate through the program with very little training because it is specifically designed to assume no prior CAD experience.
